You Are INK-REDIBLE
INKTOBER 2022 IS OFF TO AN INK-REDIBLE START!
We are only 6 days into the challenge and already have over half a million uses of #Inktober2022! You’ve gotten really good at this whole art thing, and we are here to help you get better! Instead of our typical Thursday newsletter, this month we have inking tips, classes you can take, and exclusive offers to share with you.
Inking Tip: Week 1
Let’s go through some of the steps to make that piece of art you’re so excited about come to life.
1. Start with an idea: Art in any form starts with the same thing: An Idea. So what do you want to draw? Pick something familiar and simple to start with.
2. Make it Flat as a Pancake: Imagine you’ve taken your object, pet, or friend and flattened them down into basic shapes. You’re not sculpting, so start thinking in 2D instead of 3D.
3. Grab a Red Pencil: It’s an old trick but trust us, it works. Draw out your idea in a faint red pencil first. As you sketch and scratch, you’ll find that the red helps your idea pop a little bit more, giving you guide lines for your next step.
4. Get The INK! Now you’re ready to ink your piece! use the red lines to guide your pen, using different angles and pressures as you go to give depth to different edges. Have fun with it, and don’t be afraid to get messy!
